Tiria Pehi

Tīria Pereti Pehi (Ngāpuhi and Te Āti Haunui-a-Pāpārangi) is an Assistant Research Fellow with He Kāinga Oranga - Housing and Health Research Programme. Tīria comes from Whangarei, having worked supporting people in serious housing need in the community, through emergency housing and transitional housing. Working in the face of homelessness has fuelled her passions for creating better housing outcomes, not only for Māori but for all people of Aotearoa.

With a BA in social science from Auckland University of Technology, Tīria hopes to further her studies with the University of Otago. Her research interests are in homelessness; mental health; Māori identity; institutional racism; the environment, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its applications to wider society.
