The Tenancy Tribunal, the “court” for households which rent, has been dubbed a toothless kitten.

Sky-high house prices mean a growing number of households are now long-term renters, and that is elevating the importance of the Tenancy Tribunal in the money lives of ordinary families.

But, in her latest book Home Truths prize-winning researcher Philippa Howden-Chapman’s called the tribunal: “A toothless kitten designed to do very little for the tenant and even less to encourage landlords to improve their offerings.”
