Simon Hales

Research Associate Professor

I am a Research Associate Professor and environmental epidemiologist. My research has focussed on global environmental issues, including climate change and air pollution. I have lead the development of new epidemiological methods including Geographic Information Systems and wavelet analyses.

Over the past 6 years, I have been involved in several high profile international collaborations in the field of environmental health, and my publications featuring original empirical analysis are cited in the resulting reports, including the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment, UNEP Global Environmental Outlook and Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reports.

I am currently leading multi-country collaborative studies on climate and health funded by the World Health Organisation (Geneva). I am technical adviser to WHO Fiji in a separate multi-country study of vulnerability and adaptation to climate change.
